Visited here for Christmas night out, about 18 of us. Decor pleasant, comfortable settings. Food arrived quickly, was excellent. Some very very tasty dishes indeed. Price was very reasonable and staff were very accommodating.
We've said many times we'd like to visit here and never made it for various reasons. We had bought a groupon and visited tonight for my husbands birthday. There's a small seating area upstairs and we were in the bigger downstairs area. It was quite quiet but got busier as the night went on.The waiter was very friendly and very quick. The food was all excellent and the flavours really packed a punch! We would definitely go back and also recommend it.
They were advertising a thali lunch which looked delicious and excellent value too - worth checking out!!
Really happy to come back here. Had a dosa as a starter (a thin pancake from fermented batter made from black lentil also called urad bean) which is a South Indian dish. I had it plain served with delicious coconut and other chutneys. My mate is vegetarian so he had a channa (chick pea) masala which was really tasty and I'm so addicted to vindaloo I had a lamb one of those. All very tasty and bursting with spices. It's BYOB so you can take a bottle of wine and they also have a full bar. Very friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. The people at the two tables next to us looked like Indians and they cleared their plates with great enthusiasm which I think is always a good sign of an authentic restaurant. 100% recommended.
Excellent food and great service. 2 for 1 curries Mon - Fri 2pm to 6pm! Looks deceptively small from outside but 50 seats downstairs. We’ll be back.

Much nicer on the inside than it looks from the outside! Good food and portion size, service was very good as well. Not a large drink menu but fine enough.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Great first stop while in Edinburgh. We started off with appetizers (veggy samosas, peshwari naan, Kingfisher beer). All were excellent. Our entree's were vegetable korma, chana masala, lamb Rohan josh, and a few others. Highly recommended!

My family and I were visiting Edinburgh for a few days and happened to walk by Golden Ambal on our first evening - so glad we stopped in!! We ordered the lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala, a masala dosa, and a piece of naan to go. Everything was super flavorful and delicious. Also, our order was done really quickly, and I thought the prices were really reasonable too. We only saw the top level of the restaurant, which is just a few tables, but I think they have more tables downstairs. I've tried a lot of Indian restaurants before and this was the best I've had in a long time!

Excellent food and good value. Would have liked warm plates as food cooled quickly on cold plates. Overall, very good.
